“Thin White Layers” was written during one of the longest and coldest winters in the UK, Feb to April 2013. To reflect this, it is intentionally cold, atmospheric sounding ambient album essentially realised with Ableton Live 9, Max for Live and Csound. Hardware synths, occasional guitars and field recordings are also featured, the church bells on “Shopland” were recorded in North Essex and Cambridge, Watery sounds on “The Naze” were recorded in situ. I would also like to thank David Reinstein for providing me with the most marvellous Trombone vocalise multiphonic!"
