This album explores the cyclic aspect of chordophones, mainly the music derived through circular bowing: the attempt to embody a personal aesthetic of sound takes different forms, depending on the subject matter.

While the life of stellar bodies is a topic that I have more frequently approached of late, the music in this collection shares topics that also diverge from this: the colours of Rothko, the mediaeval drones, and stellar motion. However, the connecting thread is one: using string instruments to perform layered structures of endless quality, without much of a beginning or an end, dealing with the timeless continuity of the universe, and how to capture this in a recorded instance.

The tonal language is often very sparse or 'primitive', in an attempt to capture space or colour instead of story-telling or momentum.
